Peanut Butter and Jelly Minus the Peanut Butter and Bread
Little Miss Samara is going through the phase of not wanting to eat the peanut butter side of her PB&J. I remember this with the boys, but this time, Mommy and Daddy have wised up. Or so we thought. She had been only eating the bread with jelly on it and leaving the wholesome peanut butter side on her plate. Today, James decided we would try a new technique. He put peanut butter on both sides of the sandwich and then a layer of jelly on top of the PB. This way she would be forced to eat at least some of the peanut butter. Haha, the joke is on us. She licked the jelly right off and left the rest of the sandwich. Here's to hoping this phase doesn't last long!

Whadda ya gonna do?! Tis an age old problem ... getting smart little ones to eat what you want them to eat. Maybe some of your friends with children can give you their ideas. I have an idea, it is not original, but it might work. Spread out a plastic tablecloth on the kitchen floor (real close to the kitchen sink).Tell Samara and the boys that for lunch they will get to create a peanut butter person. Put a dollop of peanut butter in a small bowl and let them use it as finger paint on a plate and see if she'll lick her fingers during the process. You could use fruit for features: maybe use strawberries for eyes, 1/2 a banana for nose, and raisins for a mouth. If you are quite adventurous and see that a good amount of pb is being eaten, you could let them squirt chocolate syrup for hair. Just a bit on the messy side of an idea. Good luck!
